Following their testimonies regarding the infamous Contract 717, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office released the ERGOSE executives. They had to post their bail amounts and are required to remain within the country’s borders.

Next week, the remaining 21 defendants will provide their testimonies. These individuals, not holding any political office, include 18 public servants. They’re facing charges ranging from fraud, breach of trust, and making false declarations to obtain illegal benefits, to complicity in fraud and making false statements.

The charges involve:

  • fourteen ERGOSE civil servants accused of fraud concerning grants,
  • four officials from the Hellenic Administrative Authority for the Transport Infrastructure, Environment, and Sustainable Development Operational Program (EYD/EP-YMEPERAA) accused of misappropriating funds,
  • and five representatives and employees from the Consortium Contractor accused of complicity in fraud concerning grants and complicity in false certification aimed at securing undue advantages for others.
