Tensions have escalated between the Greek government and troika officials - Germany΄s Matthias Mors (EU) and Clauss Masuch (ECB) and Denmark΄s Paul Tomsen (IMF) - charged with checking the implementation of austerity policies to jump-start the Greek economy over an ΄΄unexplainable΄΄ lack of flexibility towards Greece, sources close to the government have said.

The constant change of attitude of the three officials regarding issues already discussed and their persistent call on Greek authorities to pass new austerity measures, considered “inappropriate” by Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras, risk hindering everything that has been done so far with huge sacrifices made by the Greek population.

This situation moreover occurs just two months before Greece is scheduled to take on the rotating presidency of the EU.
