Surfers in Athens braved the rain and flocked to Vouliagmeni Beach on the capital΄s south coast to take advantage of high swells kicked up by storms and strong southerly winds over the weekend.

Most of Greece was affected by the wave of inclement weather which is set to continue with the thermometer plunging across the country and snow forecast in northern areas. In Athens roads temporarily turned to rivers and basements were flooded by heavy rains, while the high winds caused trees and branches to fall in a number of neighborhoods.
