As we bid farewell to 2023, we’re taking a significant stride in our communication with you through the launch of our TPP Transparency Page. This initiative stands as one of the most crucial offerings from our platform, and we’re eager to delve into its importance. At the core, the challenge of delivering unbiased information largely boils down to funding issues. The financial constraints often hinder the ability to compensate journalists fairly, leading to potential conflicts of interest with political entities or oligarchs. The straightforward yet profound graph we share today encapsulates a principle that is vital to us.
The bulk of our funding comes from the best possible source: our readers.

A mere 6% of our revenue is generated through advertising, specifically non-intrusive, algorithm-driven ads, such as those displayed on YouTube or GoogleAds. This represents a minor fraction of our overall funding, ensuring we remain free from any potential influence or dependency on vested interests.
It’s important to note that our media platform takes a principled stance by categorically rejecting advertisements from banks, multinational corporations, and government bodies, intentionally distancing ourselves from entities that possess significant financial power.
There’s a singular exception to our rule: our readers and subscribers, with whom we celebrate the establishment of an economic model that upholds absolute journalistic independence. This model ensures professional compensation for our work, eliminating the need for voluntary contributions or financial improvisation.
The income of approximately 20,000 euros per month, derived from the aforementioned sources, is adequate to finance the salaries of the six core team members of the project, as well as 13 part-time employees—excluding two exceptions. This steady flow of subscription revenue ensures that we meet all ongoing expenses, including salary payments, without any delays.
Occasionally, our consistently positive financial trajectory enables us to expand our team modestly and increase salaries from €760 to €800. We apply this salary structure uniformly to all employees, without exception.
Our program funding is subject to fluctuations and may originate from sources with agendas not fully aligned with ours. However, its limited proportion—merely 6% of our total income—guarantees stable employment for our team. This stability supports the continuous flow of content and daily broadcasts, enabling the creation of original material alongside a modest yet crucial information dissemination mechanism. It’s worth noting that this program-specific funding earmarks distinct projects and does not subsidize the fixed expenses of the TPP.
The recent elections underscored the government’s capacity to dictate the agenda and the duration of public discourse. While we don’t claim to single-handedly overturn this dynamic, we are optimistic about our approach. We aim to cultivate a daily engagement among our readers and subscribers, fostering a connection where they turn to our site for their news. This effort marks a step towards reshaping the narrative landscape.
Claiming that TPP’s financial model is our most significant asset is not an overstatement. Our skills and capabilities are on par with our peers across the media landscape. What sets us apart is the privilege of being supported by a community that understands the value of independent journalism. They recognize that if they don’t invest in the journalism they believe in, others will fund it with agendas that may not align with their interests.
Our initiative owes its existence to the foundation laid by Kostas Efimeros. We don’t envision him looking down on us from any lofty perch, as we don’t subscribe to the notion that such a place exists. However, we firmly believe that he would appreciate how we honour his legacy, him being the original visionary who crafted and realized a comprehensive editorial and financial strategy for a self-sustaining media platform.
Our validation comes both morally and financially. The support through your subscriptions ensures fair working conditions for young employees, free from instability.
Our needs
Our gratitude extends beyond satisfaction; we consider ourselves fortunate to have such robust support, especially in a work environment often marked by instability and unpaid labour. Amidst these challenging conditions, we’ve achieved a harmonious working atmosphere, primarily funded by the most dependable and gracious source: our readers’ subscriptions.
Our mission finds justification in both ethical and economic terms. Your subscription contributions secure stable and equitable employment conditions for our young workforce.
We feel more than just content; we are genuinely grateful for the substantial support we’ve received, particularly in an employment landscape rife with insecurity and the norm of unpaid work. In such an environment, we’ve managed to cultivate a stable and peaceful work culture, thanks largely to the unwavering and generous backing from our subscribers.
This doesn’t imply we’re not aiming higher. Two aspirations stand out to us, and we’re committed to achieving them.
Firstly, we yearn to dedicate resources to more thorough investigative reports. Secondly, our goal is to develop our English-language news platform, entirely independent of systemic funding. Currently, non-Greek speakers are limited to sources connected to the notorious Petsas List, and we aim to offer an alternative.
This page serves as a transparent window into how your monthly subscription to TPP directly contributes to our cause, ensuring that what you support today will continue to thrive tomorrow and beyond.
We invite you to subscribe and play a crucial role in our expansion. Your contributions remain clear and impactful, unaffected by complex financial schemes. Instead, every euro you invest translates into the production of more and higher quality journalism.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all who have put their trust in this model of financing, keeping the vision alive. We share in the pride that this support generates.
We have two simple requests: first, set up a monthly subscription with just a click here (reference TPP International and your order number as the reason for payment) and then join us at our party το meet us in person.
