The case file of the trial of Golden Dawn’s senior members has revealed a host of strictures from a ban on listening to love songs to a dress code that members must adhere to, the To Vima website (in Greek) reported this week.
.
According to the file obtained by the reporter Vasilis Lambropoulos, which included speeches and internal memos sent out to regional party heads, it is not becoming of a nationalist ‘to slaughter 100 people and then go home and listen to love songs.”
Party members are also urged to defend Golden Dawn’s Facebook profile… “A nationalist or a great fighter is not someone who allows his profile come down from Facebook.”
The memos, filled with spelling and grammatical errors, stress the importance of being well-dressed and respectful. “It is unacceptable for members to come to our offices in their flip-flops and Honolulu-style shorts and for women to come dressed in mini skirts with their backs bare or with their breasts out,” it said.
“This is a matter of respect. Golden Dawn is not a KKE (the Greek Communist party) sex bar and we will never let it become one,” the memo said.
Self image and personal hygiene are fundamental issues that ‘set Golden Dawn members apart from the rest’. “We must look in the mirror at home on a daily basis. Our image reflects our soul. We are nationalist ideologues who put everything on the line and are different from the petty bourgeois who live their comfortable but miserable lives”.
In another memo, a regional leader suggests, in appalling Greek, that Golden Dawn should handle the education of children at school to create a better and more ‘serious society’.
“This way we will have soldiers and individuals who will continuously improve themselves within a more serious and human society”.
Golden Dawn rose from obscurity to become the country’s third most popular party but its leaders and senior deputies are now in prison awaiting trial, accused of heading a criminal gang that attacks immigrants and political rivals.
