Thousands of students and pupils are once again protesting outside the Parliament in Athens, as well as in many other cities across the country, demanding justice and accountability. At the same time, inside the Parliament building, a debate is taking place on the motion of no confidence against the government, submitted by PASOK-KINAL. In the evening, at 7:00 PM, trade unions and labour federations will hold another rally outside Parliament in Syntagma Square, coinciding with the no confidence vote and speeches by the PM and opposition leaders.
The protest began with a pre-gathering at Propylaia at 12:00, where student and pupil associations marched toward the Parliament, chanting slogans and holding banners and placards. They are currently staging a sit-in demonstration outside the Parliament. The central demand of this nationwide educational rally remains justice and accountability for the 57 victims of the Tempe disaster.
“We will stay here until justice is served. All together, as one voice, we will become one. We must continue for those who are gone. And one thing is certain— in the end, we will win!” declared the Athens Students’ Coordinating Committee and numerous student associations, who had been calling for the mobilization in the previous days.
