The explosion occurred on Monday, 27 July, killing a 67-year-old worker and leaving another worker with minor injuries.
Those arrested are the 47-year-old owner of the company, its 46-year-old safety technician and the factory’s 46-year-old operations supervisor. They are accused of responsibility for the conditions in which the explosion and subsequent fire occurred.
According to the investigation so far, the 67-year-old worker was carrying out welding work near a gas supply when the powerful explosion took place.
A 37-year-old Greek man also suffered minor burns.
Footage obtained by MEGA captured the moment of the explosion. Shortly before 1.30pm, a huge fireball rose above the factory as the deafening blast was heard across the wider Corinth area.
The preliminary investigation into the precise causes and circumstances of the incident is continuing. It is being conducted by the Corinth fire investigation unit of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes.
Following a series of incidents at business premises, the Hellenic Fire Service issued a strong warning to company owners, safety officers and employees to comply strictly with all prescribed safety and fire-protection regulations and to avoid any work or activity that could trigger an explosion or fire.
