A new Eurogroup has been scheduled for Wednesday while a Euro Summit in order to finalize the deal is expected on Thursday. Sources claim that Greece has accepted an extension of the rescue program while the Greek proposal includes tough measures worth 8bn. within the next two years.
Exiting the European Leaders Summit:
Tsipras: “Our proposal has been accepted as a basis for further discussion…We don’t want a fragmented deal but a complete, viable solution that will come with a package for economic growth…” “The ball is now in the court of Europe’s leadership”
Hollande: “It is to everyone’s interested that we achieve a viable arrangement so that we don’t have to deal with the Greek problem every now and then. This poisons Europe and is a barrier for Greece”.
Merkel: What Greece has presented constitutes a progress. We want Greece to remain in the Eurozone but time is pressing and there is still a lot to be done.
Juncker: Despite the delay, the Greek proposals constitute an important step. We have the will to finalize the procedure by the end of the week.
