The lender’s reps will return to Greece on Friday and Mr. Stournaras on Saturday (after he will take part in the Ecofin meeting), to resume negotiations not only regarding prior actions required to disburse the €1 billion tranche (pending since July), but also for another €4,9 bln, that is supposed to be disbursed in December.
Not having reached a deal yet, the government will go forward unilaterally on two fronts. First, that it will present the 2014 budget draft to the Parliament by November 21, as provided by the Constitution. Second, it will file to the Parliament the new bill regarding the uniform property tax. The Finance Ministry “welcomes” complaints and suggestions by the government-backing MPs, provided that “fiscal targets can be met” and that the tax base is wide so that “more taxpayers pay less each”.
Sources in the Ministry mention that home foreclosures and deregulation of rents for professional spaces, remain as hot topics between the government and the troika.
