A fire which started on Sunday in the Soleas area in Cyprus has already claimed the lives of two firefighters. Three more are injured, one is at critical condition. Material and ecological damages are already immeasurable.
The Cypriot site sigmalive.com informs that this is the worst fire in the history of the Cypriot Democracy. The fire was destroyed 15sq.km of pine forest. The villages of Spilia, Ag.Irini, Kourdali and Kannavia have been evacuated.
Firefighting airplanes, helicopters and land units are operating in the area. Israeli air units are also in aid. More airplanes are expected to arrive today from Greece, France and Italy.
At the moment the fire is still roaming in the Soleas area.
