Two more workplace accidents in Greece: One worker seriously injured, another killed

A construction worker in Larissa was seriously injured after a fall at a building site, while a hotel employee in Santorini lost her life when a wall-mounted bed collapsed during her shift.
The first incident occurred in the city of Larissa on this Monday, when a 40-year-old construction worker was seriously injured after falling into a shaft at a building site near the Church of Saint George on Karamanli Avenue. Emergency services responded swiftly, with fire crews using two vehicles to assist in freeing the man. He was later taken by ambulance to Larissa University Hospital, where he is currently being treated. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the fall. As of now, the worker’s condition remains unknown.
Just two days earlier, a tragic and fatal workplace accident took place on the island of Santorini. On Saturday 12 April, a 59-year-old woman lost her life while working at a hotel in the Oia area. The victim was reportedly struck on the head by a bed that had been mounted to or suspended from a wall and suddenly became detached. The impact was fatal.
Police Statement:
On the afternoon of Saturday 12 April 2025, in Thira, a 59-year-old foreign woman was fatally injured while carrying out cleaning duties at a tourist accommodation.
The manager of the establishment has been arrested. A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Thira Police Department to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the incident.
