Two years since Tempe: “The most tragic anniversary of our lives draws near”

In a new social media post, Maria Karystianou, president of the association of Tempe victims’ families, once again called for participation in the memorial demonstrations on 28 February. She made a heartfelt plea to "all unions, workers' associations, and citizens' organisations to dedicate their speeches on this fateful day to the souls of Tempe so that they receive the priority they deserve."
Full Statement by Maria Karystianou:
“The most tragic anniversary of our lives draws near.
The night when corruption took the lives of our children.
And in its ruthless attempt to cover up the truth, it continues to kill them—burying everything that could bring them justice.
28/02/2025: day of REMEMBRANCE.
It is the day that calls us peacefully to the streets to demand JUSTICE for all the souls who were sacrificed and to seek the CATHARSIS that will give Greece the breath of fresh air it so desperately needs.
We are deeply grateful for your support in our pain and in our fight for justice. Once again, we invite you to stand with us because you—and only you—are our STRENGTH and HOPE.
In respect of their own struggles for their fair demands, we make a heartfelt request to all unions, workers’ associations, and citizens’ organisations to dedicate their speeches on this tragic day to the souls of Tempe, so that they receive the priority they deserve.
And to silence those who will cynically attempt to claim that this sacred gathering serves political parties, affiliations, or personal interests.
So that our voices may be ONE—free from labels and divisions—against the crime of Tempe and all the crimes that followed.
For justice for ALL victims.
So that we never have to mourn more lost lives.
For our children.
For Democracy.
For the Rule of Law we deserve.
So that we can finally BREATHE…
