Tziortziotis was released in early September after the Trikala Council of Misdemeanours ruled that his pretrial detention should be replaced with restrictive measures. He was banned from leaving the country and ordered to report to a police station once a month.
The Violanta owner had been remanded in custody in February after giving evidence before the investigating judge.
Two other relatives of victims also submitted requests for an appeal in early September, immediately after Tziortziotis was released.
Tziortziotis faces charges of causing an explosion with conditional intent, multiple counts of negligent homicide and multiple counts of bodily harm.
The judicial investigation remains ongoing. The factory’s safety technician and the technician on duty at the time of the explosion are also facing charges.
