“Eleven months after Israel’s military operation, initially launched to free hostages and dismantle the Palestinian resistance, these goals remain unmet. Instead, Israeli military actions have caused the deaths of many captives,” the Solidarity Initiative stated.
The group accuses Israel of following a premeditated plan for the genocide of the Palestinian people, dating back long before October 7. “For 11 months, the Israeli state has bombarded civilian buildings, infrastructure, international missions, children, and the elderly. The massacre has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Palestinians, with estimates of hundreds of thousands affected by this systematic genocide and ethnic cleansing,” the statement continued.
Despite military and diplomatic support from the EU, NATO, and the US, the resistance in Gaza persists, even spreading into the Israeli-occupied West Bank, the Initiative noted. The group condemned the complicity of international bodies and accused Israel of pursuing the complete displacement of Palestinians from their homeland.
The Initiative also criticised the Greek government under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, accusing it of deepening Greece’s involvement in “aggressive imperialist plans” in the Middle East. “By sending naval forces to protect interests in the Red Sea and offering military facilities for attacks on Palestine, Greece has become complicit in this crime against humanity,” the Initiative claimed.
For two years, the Initiative of Labour Unions and Collectives has supported the Palestinian struggle through protests, events, and public demonstrations. “We urge everyone to join us and raise their voices against the bloodshed in Gaza, the West Bank, and all of Palestine,” the group concluded.
