Two years following the explosive revelation of the wiretapping scandal and his subsequent resignation, Grigoris Dimitriadis, nephew of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and former general secretary to the PM, has been called to testify at Areios Pagos, the Supreme Court of Greece.

The deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court is now summoning witnesses in an effort to complete his investigation and compile a comprehensive report. This report will be submitted to Georgia Adelini, the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, who will make the ultimate decision regarding the case.

Grigoris Dimitriadis resigned from his post in August 2022, coinciding with the resignation of Panagiotis Kontoleon, the then commander of the National Intelligence Service (EYP). Their resignations followed the exposure of the EYP’s surveillance of the PASOK-KINAL party president Nikos Androulakis.

In the wake of media scrutiny, Dimitriadis has retaliated with strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPPs), targeting journalists and various media outlets in an attempt to silence criticism.
