Emergency services rushed to the scene, with firefighters working to free the victim, but he was pronounced dead shortly before 12:30 p.m. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

This incident adds to the rising toll of workplace accidents in Greece. Since January 1, 2024, 114 such accidents have been recorded, marking a death approximately every two and a half days. According to reports, 185 workers have been seriously injured this year. Haris Stoimenidis, President of OSETEE and GSEE’s secretary for Health and Safety, highlighted the alarming trend, saying that if it continues, 2024 may see figures approaching those of 2023, a record year for workplace fatalities in Greece.
