The latest developments in the wiretapping scandal have prompted strong reactions from opposition parties, which are urgently demanding that the issue be discussed in Parliament.

For his part, Justice Minister George Floridis claims that the case has already been investigated by the judiciary and that there is no evidence of involvement by state agencies, but only by private individuals.

Speaking to Parapolitika 90.1, Floridis said: ‘On this issue, in 2022, an extensive investigation was carried out by the then deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court, who investigated all aspects and identified criminal responsibility among individuals whom he referred to the competent court. That finding referred the individuals whose criminal responsibility he deemed should be examined to the competent court and also determined that there was no involvement of state services, and archived the case. What emerges is one path, the one that has been followed so far.’

Regarding the possibility of cooperation between the National Intelligence Service (EYP) and Intellexa, the minister stressed that the case is in the hands of the judiciary and that any new evidence must be evaluated by the competent judicial authorities.

‘Since this case as a whole is in the hands of the justice system, the justice system is responsible. Because anyone else who investigates something will send their findings to the justice system, and the justice system will evaluate it,’ he said.

On the political level, the confrontation remains intense, with the opposition insisting that the case must be discussed in Parliament, while the government points to the findings of the judiciary so far, which, it claims, have not identified any involvement by state agencies.
