Greece's fledgling new government last night won a confidence vote 162-137, with only the MPs of the two governing parties, SYRIZA and ANEL in support. In his speech to parliament, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras reiterated his commitment to renegotiating the terms of Greece's bailout, declaring that the success of this endeavour was vital not just for Greece but for all of Europe.
In reference to the peaceful pro-government rallies that have taken place around Greece, including one last week in Syntagma Square, with a second such demonstration planned for this evening, Tsipras tweeted that his government had won the support of the people already:
