Today, March 20th at 7 PM, a concert will take place at the pedestrian street of Agia Sofia in Thessaloniki, organised by student and labour unions, in response to the Tempe disaster.

“The unprecedented protests shout ‘Their profits or our lives!’ We keep fighting till the end!

Over 1.5 million people, including many young people and students, filled the streets and squares of cities across Greece. The scenes from Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Larissa, and beyond were unforgettable and truly striking.

We are the voice of the victims. Justice will be achieved through our struggles on the streets!”

“We reject the profit-driven politics that treats our lives, needs, and safety as mere costs. We reject a system that makes it impossible for us to breathe freely in the 21st century. We trust neither the government, nor the state, the EU, or the institutions that uphold injustice. We’ve shown once again that when injustice is made law, resistance is our responsibility!”

“It’s becoming clearer that to fight those responsible for causing new Tempe-like disasters in our universities, we need to demand real, public, and free education that serves our needs. We must challenge the commodification of higher education, which makes universities cheap for the state, expensive for students, and profitable for corporations.
We must also oppose the submission of science and research to corporate interests and the involvement of universities in military agendas.

We call on everyone to join us at the concert organised by the student and labour unions on Thursday, 20 March, at 7 PM, on the pedestrian street of Agia Sofia.”
