The decision stems from a lawsuit filed by a lawyer accusing Ms. Konstantopoulou of defamation, threats, and insults during the trial of Epaminondas Korkoneas, the former police officer convicted of the murder of 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos.
While SYRIZA, the KKE, and New Left opposed the recommendation, all other parties voted in favour.
Ms. Konstantopoulou, addressing the issue in Parliament, stated: “It goes without saying that I will request the lifting of my immunity for an offence that is completely non-existent and will be proven.”
