Speaking to ERTNews, Chrysochoidis acknowledged the severity of the incident, highlighting the collective mourning for the victim’s violent death and stating, “When a life is lost, nothing is good.” Critics noted, though, that in this instance, no life was “lost”—it was violently taken away.

He clarified that protocols exist for handling such incidents, mentioning the training of over 17,000 police officers in such procedures and suggested a review to ensure their proper implementation. Nevertheless, Chrysochoidis reiterated his support for the Hellenic Police, pointing out the that they are “doing their best.”

He stated that he is personally in favour of recognising femicide in the Criminal Code but said that criminologists and the Ministry of Justice need to evaluate the necessity of this legal inclusion.
