Following the exposure of their meeting with businessman Vangelis Marinakis, State Minister Stavros Papastavrou and Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Yiannis Bratakos resigned from their positions, as confirmed by an announcement from the PM’s office. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his gratitude for their service upon accepting their resignations.

This development came after government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis acknowledged during a press briefing that the two ministers had met with V. Marinakis. This admission came amid New Democracy’s claims of “financial interests” influencing the publication of the report by To Vima newspaper on the Tempe tampering controversy and the subsequent no-confidence motion by the opposition. This effectively substantiated PASOK President Nikos Androulakis’s allegations regarding the ministers’ meeting with V. Marinakis, which was hastily described by the government as a “friendly meeting.”
