This tragedy comes just days after another shipwreck in waters north of Samos on November 25, where eight refugees, including six children and two women, lost their lives.
According to the Coast Guard, the latest shipwreck occurred when an inflatable boat carrying refugees struck a rocky shore and capsized. Initial reports confirm 16 survivors, all in good health, and four fatalities, including two women and two children.
Search efforts are continuing, involving both maritime and land teams. Authorities report that weather conditions in the area are favourable for the operation.
