PASOK proposes preliminary investigation committee to probe Christos Triantopoulos’ role in Tempe disaster site alteration

The proposal is based “on the review of the case file, particularly the detailed report dated 15 July, 2024, by the Appellate Prosecutor of Larissa,” the PASOK statement emphasizes. It also notes that former President of the Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas, who has been nominated by New Democracy as a candidate for the Presidency of the Hellenic Republic, bears significant responsibility for concealing these findings from the Parliament’s plenary. “It is unthinkable to regard the report of a high-ranking judicial official as merely supplementary evidence,” the announcement adds.
“Mr Tasoulas is exposed, as is the PM, who remains heavily implicated for not withdrawing him from the presidential election process following such blatantly anti-institutional manipulations,” PASOK-KINAL underscores in its statement.
It further adds that:
“Mr. Triantopoulos—who, according to media leaks, is expected to be removed from the government in the upcoming cabinet reshuffle—is a close associate of the PM. It’s no coincidence that the ruling majority blatantly rejected the opposition’s repeated requests for him to testify before the Investigation Committee. Despite being ‘directly involved in the cover-up,’ as the statement claims, his noticeable absence from the daily lineup of ministers appearing on television is striking.”
“Who instructed Mr Triantopoulos to take on the coordination for the ‘restoration of the site’ after the tragedy? Where and why are you hiding your close associate, Mr Mitsotakis?” the statement from PASOK headquarters concludes.
