Since early Monday morning, the first boats full of refugees have started leaving Greece towards Turkey. This is the first day of implementation of the agreement between EU and Turkey regarding the refugee problem
The Associated Press reported that the first group of 136 refugees left the island of Lesvos, accompanied by Frontex. Reuters says that, on Monday dawn, two boats left the island.
Both sides seem to be lacking on several fields. On the Greek islands the only personnel that has arrived is that which will be processing the files of the individuals illegible for relocation, while at the Turkish side the facilities for their accommodation and registration are still under construction.
Of the 136 refugees which have been sent back to Turkey, 124 are from Pakistan, 4 from Sri Lanka, 2 from India, 3 from Bangladesh, 1 from Iraq and 2 from Syria. All of them have not stated in any way that they are planning to apply for an asylum.
There will be no relocations on Tuesday and Wednesday since there are not enough refugees to do so.
The majority of the refugees which are being held in Moria have stated that the wish to apply for an asylum and, therefore, any procedures for their relocation are frozen.
