Rescue efforts are ongoing as a vessel from the Greek Coast Guard and a Frontex helicopter continue to search the surrounding waters for any other missing persons today, Monday.
This incident closely follows another shipwreck that occurred last Palm Sunday, April 28, near Karlovassi on Samos, where a boat also capsized. In that earlier incident, one person was confirmed dead, four remain missing, and 25 migrants were rescued. One of the rescued migrants, found unconscious, was initially taken to Karlovasi before being transported to the General Hospital of Samos for further treatment.
