The tragedy of Tempe is once again under the spotlight in the European Parliament, thanks to an event organised by Syriza MEP Elena Kountoura. Maria Karystianou was present on behalf of the Association of Relatives of the Victims.

The gathering, focused on Justice, Transparency, and Safety in the wake of the Tempi accident, was held following the PETI Committee’s decision to keep Maria Karystianou’s petition open and forward it to the TRAN and LIBE Committees for urgent debate.

This event scrutinises the rail safety lapses that culminated in the Tempe disaster, featuring speakers such as Maria Karystianou, President of the TEMPI 2023 Accident Victims Association; Karima Delli, President of the TRAN Committee; Keir Fitch, Head of the Transport-Mobility Unit of the Commission; alongside lawyers, Greek railway workers’ representatives, survivors, victims’ relatives, and parliamentarians.
