Workplace fatalities continue: 75-year-old builder dies on the job in Paros

Another tragic workplace accident has occurred, this time in Paros, where a 75-year-old builder lost his life after suffering an electric shock while working on a construction site.
The death of the 75-year-old highlights the harsh reality where people are forced to continue working well into old age just to secure the basic means of survival, says the Paros-Antiparos branch of the Greek Communist Party (KKE).
“They are responsible for this situation – both the EU and the Greek governments, which have fully supported European policies aimed at raising the retirement age and promoting ’employment for the elderly.’ These policies link the ability to work with the increase in life expectancy, with the sole aim of boosting corporate profits, while ignoring people’s quality of life and human dignity,” the statement adds.
“This is the daily ‘Tempe-like’ incidents of our lives, and the only way to prevent such tragedies is through demands, collective action, and the overthrow of the corrupt capitalist system,” it concludes.
